The Stuga:
My family stayed in the Stuga and it was everything we hoped for and more. It is a small 10×12 cozy wooden cabin with a huge picture window that overlooks a small pond. Inside is a small table, an Amish rocker and a propane Dickinson heater that looks just like an adorable little fireplace. The kitchen area has a small sink, fridge and a two burner gas stove. The kitchen came equipped with everything we needed to cook great meals during our stay. There are single bunk beds and a beautiful 5×10 loft with a queen sized mattress.
Outside the Stuga there is a beautiful little sitting area and fire pit next to the pond. You can see Danny’s Tent, one of the other properties, across the pond, but overall it is quite private. We cooked over the fire each night and had some great meals while we made great campfire memories.
Directly behind the Stuga is a small compost toliet to use in the evenings. Typically, we would walk the very short lit path to the “stool shed” which is shared.
Common Areas:
When you arrive at the Stuga there is a parking area where the hosts will great you. Linda and Chris are amazing. We really loved talking with them. There are carts to use to transport your belongings to your site. These were great, they were large and went through the trails very easily. They also had bikes available for guests to use at the front.
Next to the pond is a shed full of fishing poles, ice hockey sticks, snowshoes, lifejackets, etc. All available for guests to use. They also have a couple small boats you can take out on the pond. Next to the pond, for guests whos sites are further back are a couple sitting areas and places to have bonfires. Each site is stocked with firewood when you arrive and if you want additional it can be purchased right on site.
There are beautiful trails throughout the property and two super cool swings! We spent A LOT of time on these swings! Literally the coolest swings I have even been on.
Other Properties:
In addition to the beautiful Stuga there are some other gorgeous options at Balsam Ridge Retreat. I was able to get some photos of three of the other options. Enjoy!
As you can see, this is a beautiful place to stay. I hope you enjoyed the photos and information. I definitely recommend booking a stay, no mater the season, at Balsam Ridge Retreat! I know I already can’t wait to go back!
Much Love & Happy Travels,
Lacey
