We recently traveled to Great Smoky Mountain National Park and had an amazing time. More on the park later. For now, I’d love to share about our experience glamping at Camp GRITS, booked on Airbnb.
Camp GRITS is located in the town of Cosby just outside of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This was the perfect location for both nights in the city, and days spent hiking the park. A short, easy drive to everything we needed.
We arrived and were greeted by Rosie the host and her adorable three year old son. They showed us around the camp and explained how to use everything. We rented the vintage camper but they also rent out a tiny house and a teepee on the same property. While you share the bathroom facilities with the two other accommodations we hardly noticed anyone else was there. It was very nice and private.
Each morning Rosie provided eggs from the chickens and fresh bread and almond milk. She also provided tea and coffee. It was super easy to cook up the breakfast on the stove inside the camper and we had beautiful, fresh breakfasts each morning during our stay.
At night we cooked over the campfire and we had AMAZING meals. We used this device Rosie made to cook and it worked wonderfully! We are talking Bacon wrapped steaks, mixed veggies, shrimp and garlic potatoes. Glamping in style. Sooooo good! We def want to make one of these to cook on at home!
The bathroom facilities were super cool! They had a compost outhouse that was incredibly clean. Each time you went to the bathroom you cover it with leaves, and the water used was all gathered from the rain. No complaints of any smelliness or anything! Spacious, clean and great.
The shower was AMAZING. A seriously cool experience to shower outdoors, and especially in November! I almost skipped taking a shower and I am soooo thankful I didn’t. The water was warm and wonderful and it was so refreshing after a day of hiking. You can also take a hillbilly hot tub here where they actually start a fire under the tub! Super cool! I wish I had this shower at home! So great!
Everything about this place was so great! A perfect place to relax in between hikes and nights on the town, a comfortable bed to sleep in and an all over great experience!
Check it out friends, You will not be disappointed! This was a trip we will never forget, thanks to Camp GRITS! Read here for tips on my favorite hike during our stay – The Chimney Tops Trail!
Much Love & Happy Travels,
Lacey

May 13, 2017 at 12:53 pmThis is awesome! And the cute little trailer actually looks a lot more spacious on the inside than I would have expected (might be the fisheye, lol ;-). I’ve always wanted to bathe hillbilly style! So I’ll definitely save this for when I visit Smoky Mountain NP.
Thank you & happy continued travels!
